I am SO excited! I am just about done with my craft room and moving on to my family room!
I seeked the help of the talented Michaela Noelle Designs to come up with TWO amazing story boards for me!
She is darling huh? Michaela is a design student and has an amazing eye for fashion in the home {well and in clothes too – but this is about the HOME}. PS – Did you notice she is wearing one of my headbands in this picture ;) So step one : I sent her some pictures of my room….
WARNING…this is kinda an old house and what comes with this 1960′s house? A ROCK WALL…yes it’s true a lovely huge wall of all rocks. I have NO clue what to do with it. I can’t paint it and with all the different shapes and sizes frames don’t sit on it! So Michaela is thinking for me but will you brain storm for me too? Help me disguise that awful wall!
Ok now for the before pics :
Plain and boring huh? My only “rule” for her was the couch had to stay…a new couch isn’t in my budget and this one fits my family pretty good!
So are you dying to see her ideas!!!! I thought so…
The OPTIONS :
The problem…I can’t pick one! So I need your help!
WHICH ONE SHOULD I PICK?
leave a comment with your choice!
BONUS….Michaela is offering 10% off any of her already SUPER affordable E-Design services to ANY love stitched reader!!! YA!~ All you have to do is email her about your design needs and mention you found her via Love Stitched and she will give you the 10% off! Such a great deal huh?

Usually I am drawn to teal/blue but I LOVE LOVE LOVE the yellow/grey option!! My vote is for option 2!
I’m so anxious to see the result! I have a horrid rock wall in my house and have no idea what to do with it. I love option one..the herringbone rug is to die for!
I like #2. I don’t know what to tell you about the rock wall…sorry!
i love 2, so perfect!
I’m partial to #2. I just re-did our master bedroom in those colors – with some blue thrown in. I think it’s such a fun and cheery combination. And one you won’t tire of any time soon!
My vote 100% is Number 2!!! But grey & yellow is my favorite color scheme EVER and I just redid our master bedroom in that scheme.
Which ever you pick it’ll be gorgeous!

I have to go with option 2!! I am in love with the gray/yellow combo and as soon as we can get out floors stripped and restained- I am going to rework the whole bottom floor with that color scheme!
i vote #2!love yellow&grey!
option #2! loving the yellow and grey!
I am always a sucker for yellow and grey, so I’m going with option #2!
I do love both color schemes, but I think I’d lean to yellow grey. With the light neutral walls, it will really lighten up the room. You can certainly add some aqua vases and pillows as a 3rd pop of color with yellow and grey, too.
Oy- the rock. Not sure. You could paint it. How handy are you? You could build some kind of thing out of wood or mdf to cover it (I saw some designer do that with an atrocious brick fireplace on hgtv)
Although I love everything associated with aqua, teal, turquoise, etc. I have to say I am loving the yellow and gray! You can’t go wrong with either of Michaela’s Designs, but my vote goes to #2!
i’m usually extra super colorful, so i’d go with a combo of the two. I’d do all of #1 with the aqua walls, etc…then add the yellow lamp and throw pillows! so, my vote is a combo of the two! :)
Wow, what an overwhelming vote so far!! Thanks for asking for my help. Can’t wait to see the progress! :)
I love Michaela and her sweet blog! I actually love option two! The yellow is a nice unexpected pop of color! :)
I love option one!! Good luck with that rock wall girl…it’s intense :)
I love both, but I’m drawn more to the blue option. But I like the direction a few have mentioned about throwing in a pop of the other color option too. Like a throw pillow or some little things on the shelves. As for your wall… I think the worst part is the white stuff. If it wasn’t SO white, I don’t think it would be AS bad. Maybe we can paint that stuff? A tan-ish gray color? I dunno, but if I can help at all, I’d love to!! I can’t wait to see what you choose for your family room and the final reveal of your craft room! I’m jealous of that room!! :) love ya, friend!!
Love the yellow and grey look af option 2!! I think the space needs a little brightness and cheeriness :) Love those West Elm curtains! I have been wanting to purchase them for my home!
I kind of think option two fits you the best… Something about the yellow… Could you hang some curtains over the rock wall?? You could do some of those removable hooks, a curtain rod and some bright, pretty curtains. Leaving the fireplace exposed of course….
Option 2, Love the neutral wall color with the pops of gray and yellow!
I love them both but I would choose the one with the neutral wall colour simply because it’s so easy to change up with new highlights! Pops of yellow are so much fun and it would look super fresh, light, airy and clean!
I do love her turquoise moodboard too tho :) You have a lovely blog!!!

I love Option #1 with the paint from option #2. Is there a particular reason why you can’t paint the rocks??? Just curious. :-) It’s going to look awesome!
That is an absolutely darling picture of Michaela–what a cutie! And I love the room designs she came up with! I love the ocean blue paint she chose and think it would totally bring new life to the room, so number one is my favourite! So excited to have found your blog and hope you have a wonderful weekend!:)
Love them, both, but choice #2 is my personal favorite. I love the rug, curtains, and the pop of bright color! :)
I love both but if I had to pick one I would go with the yellow/gray combo!
I vote #2! Both are pretty though-can’t wait to see what you decide! Oh, and 1 idea for that rock wall…I’ve seen people cover it with drywall or sheets of plywood and then you have a brand new wall!
they are both super cute! she did a great job! but i’m going to have to go with option one. :)
Although I am a big fan of the yellow & grey, I believe the blue one would be nice in the space you have!
#2!!!
And if you come up with a genius solution for rock walls, please let me know! = ) I have one that’s had me dumbfounded for the last two years.
#2, but throw in a few of those blue accents where you can!
I vote option 2. The yellow will bring some sunshine into your tiny dark room.
So i checked this out the day you posted and then decided to wait to cast my vote. Coming back, I was still more visually drawn to the #1 so that gets my vote. I love the beach and ocean, so I think that’s why #1 appeals a little more. You could easily add in pops of other colors that would blend nicely. I’m just not a fan of yellow in rooms…depending on lighting, it can look really weird. Good luck. They are both beautiful designs.
I have to say #1 gets my vote – the room looks pretty dark and I think the airy/oceany blues would help to lighten it up. This was a hard one to choose because I really love grey and yellow!!!
As for the rock wall, any chance you could remove the rocks?? Or cover it with a faux wall? And why is painting it out of the question? I think it would be just like painting a brick fireplace (which I did in our home). It takes LOADS of primer, but white rocks would go a long way toward lightening up the whole room.
I came here from Michaela’s blog, and I’ve had her design one of our rooms – you’re in for some great design from her!!!
