Getting my body in shape – the before & win a $1000 spa finder gift card


Summer time is here and we all know what that means….swimsuits!

I don’t think that I am ‘fat’ by any means, but I am also not one of those ‘skinny’ girls.  For proof of that you can see my post two years ago.  I have muscle and ‘big bones,’ as my grandma once told me ;) And I am ok with not being rail thin!  I am ‘mushy and squishy’ and I don’t have much tone or muscle definition either! And while my clothes hide my ‘bulge’ I want to feel good when I look in the mirror. I am really good at wearing loose clothing–nothing tight on my tummy, please! I have this little pouch on my stomach that will always be there no matter what! It is partially my own fault for not really working out and for eating out more than I probably should BUT when I look in the mirror and don’t like what I see that means it is time to TAKE ACTION and to hold myself accountable….SO, I am posting it on here for all to see :)

It may not seem like much to some people and it may not even look as bad as I feel it is but what should matter is how I feel when I look in the mirror and how I feel about my body! And right now I am not happy with it.

I want to be able to wear TIGHT clothes and not wonder if people think I might be prego or feel like I HAVE to hold my “gut” in. I want to feel proud of my body!

Since I travel so much for work, which forces me to eat out every meal of the day at least 3x a week, I decided to start out by grabbing some Slim-Fast bars and shakes that I can bring on the road for a meal replacement, along with some simple exercise techniques. Slim-Fast is a great short-term weight loss solution to help jumpstart the new tighter body I am aiming for!

 

I will be posting my journey periodically here on the blog–some of my work out tips and food options! I also have a board on Pinterest all about EXERCISE…check it out for extra motivation and tips! This will help hold me accountable and keep me on track with the “proud” me…the happier me!

    I’m getting married next April and my biggest fear is that I’ll look horrible in the photos. I’m not very photogenic and I would hate to not like any of the photos that I’m paying a photographer a lot of money to take. I’m not over weight, but I too feel squishy and untoned. I want to lose some of the fat and gain more muscle for my wedding and want to look the best I ever have. I feel like if I can’t do it for my wedding I’ll never be able to.

    I have a brand new baby, 3 weeks old, and im 20 lbs over my pre-pregnancy weight. I can’t wait to get back into my old clothes (and possibly buy some new ones).

    I want to lose some weight for the same reasons you do – just to feel good about my body! I was doing a good job of starting to get in shape this summer and then I had to get a surprise surgery so now I’m back to square 1 :(

    Well, for me, it has happened when I hit the big 4-0! 10 pounds that year and ten more the next!! Argh! I haven’t changed one thing dietary or with exercise. Hormones possibly? Either way? I hate how these 20 make me look! Hate it! I want to lose ‘em and be able to take my little ones to the pool without feeling like I am a beached, blubbery whale. Ah, is there hope?!

    I want to lose weight bad, it’s mainly just my belly and muffin top, it’s really hard to lose the belly fat especially when you’re a beer drinker :p but I want to lose weight to make myself look better and feel better about myself.

    I am not sure if my reason is crazy. I am doing a lot of my weight loss these days in memory of my friend, Allen, who died in March. He had lost 125 lbs before passing, and he had started an amazing fitness blog to chronicle his loss. He was going to mentor me on the week that he died…. so now I do it and think of him often.

    I went from a job where I was on my feet all day to an office job sitting all day and gained 30 pounds.Now I have revamped my diet with fresh veggies,fruit etc and take daily walks and do dvds,but I really want to lose the weight because I would have more energy like I used to .I want to be abe to keep up with my son who is Autistic and is very active.

    When I hit menopause I read about all the weight women gain. I decided NOT to be that girl, so I’ve lost 20 lb in the last 2 years!

    I am returning to my hometown this summer and when I moved away at 18, I was much thinner and pre-baby. It feels silly but I want to return and feel like I still look fun and young (not a “frumpy mommy” which is how I feel a lot of the time!).

    When I was a youth under the thumb of my narcissistic mother, I wanted to lose weight so that I could make her happy. I starved myself down to her size EXACTLY so we could share clothing and the scale number was identical. Pretty sick.

    Honestly, I’ve never been able to lose weight under the pressure of a special date. I have lost 20 pounds since the 1st of the year, but being good MOST of the time. Slow and steady seems to be the only thing effective for me.

    I’d love to be able to be confident enough to go out swimming with the family. There’s a Great Wolf Lodge nearby and my daughter has been wanting to go. *sigh* I have so much weight to lose it looks like weight loss surgery is the answer for me. However, maybe it’s not..I’ve got two family members that have botched surgeries and horrible effects from it all. I wish I was one of those naturally skinny people.

    I’m motivated to lose weight to just simply become a healthier version of myself. I love my curves and only really need to lose a little to be happy… I’m not a little girl by any means… I wear a size 10, but I love every inch of myself, just wish it was a little tighter sometimes. lol.

    I look at my old photos and see how slim I used to be. After 5 children I had only gained 7 pounds that wouldn’t go away. But when I hit 40 suddenly the pounds started piling on. It’s hard on my breathing as well as my knees and feet to carry this extra weight.
    I want to at least look as slim as I was at 45.

    First off I loved reading your post and that Squat Challenge looks insane! I can’t wait to show my sister it so we can try it together though it looks crazy hard!
